Nami Danam ke Akhir Chun Dam-e-Deedar mi Raqsam -

|

What a fabulous night that was. Farid and party were in such a beautiful mood that transported us all to the Devine. The above recital is from the Noor Cultural Centre event

A repost.

I love this poem and am glad to find its nastaliq version on your blog. So much easier to read.

Somehow everyone on the internet has the same translation and the translation does not really correspond to the (partial) text above.
E.g.
The translation of second farsi verse "biya jana tamasha kun --- mi raqsam" corresponds to "Come o beloved ... I dance" and not to the second english verse. Instead the "thou strikest ..." corresponds to the farsi verse missing from the partial verse i.e. "Tu har dam mi sarae naghma va har ... raqsam"
Similarly, the verse "tuwan qatil ke az behre ... raqsam" does not have the english translation :).

Hope this is not taken as an outrageous critique. I very much appreciate you posting the real nastaliq version which is hard to find.

I absolutely agree with mariamirza regarding the translation thing. Translation is obviously jumbled up as mentioned above. Plus you guys have accredited this poetry to Lal Shahbaz Qalandar which is absolutely not true since this is the kalam of Khawaja Usman Harooni. Kindly get that corrected as well. Thanks a lot for posting this ghazal by the way. Cheers! :)

Shunnooo, Khwaja Usman Marvandi/Harooni was also known as Laal shahbaz qalandar

@ Vipul: They are different saints. Usman Harooni belonged to Chishti order while Usman Marvandi to Sohrwardi order. Usman Harooni was the peer of Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti. Cheers!

Thanks for the information. Really helpful. But khwaja Usman Harooni and Lal shahbaz kalandar are same. Right?

@ Vipul: Usman Maivandi is Lal Shahbaz Qalandar :/
