Dee Shab ke mi Raftii Butaan - Amir Khusrau

Poetry: Hazrat Amir Khusrau
Recital: Subhan Nizami Qawwal

Dee shab ke mi raftii butaan ru karda az maa yak taraf,
Afgunda kaakul yak taraf, zulf-e-chaleepaa yak taraf

Sultan-e-khooban mi ravad, har su hujoom-e-aashiqan,
Chaabuk sawaran yak taraf, miskeen gadayan yak taraf.

Nosheen sharab-e-laal-oo, shud majlis-e-ma bekhabar,
Jaam-o-surahi yak taraf, mastaan-e-ruswaa yak taraf.

Taa bar rukh-e-zebaa-e-to, uftada zaahid ra nazar,
Tasbeeh-e-zohdash yak taraf, Baada musallaa yak taraf.

Bechara Khusrau khasta raa, khoon reekh tan farmooda ast,
Khalqe be minnat yak taraf, aan shokh tanhaa yak taraf

~ Amir Khusrau

Eng trans:

Last night as I approached you, the idols from me were cast aside
Cast was the cap on one side, and the tangled tresses on the other

Wherever the beloved Sultan goes, the crowd of lovers follow,
Riders on one side, and beggars on the other

Having drunk of His red wine, oblivious of myself I became,
Goblet and pitcher were thrown aside, the drunk and disgraced thrown aside

When on your beauteous face fell the eyes of the Zaahid,
His tasbeeh of abstinence cast aside, the cup and prayer mat cast aside

Poor and weary Khusrau, has been asked to shed his blood,
All humanity on one side, the lone enthusiast on the other

Show Me the Way Back to the Source - Rumi

Rozha fekre man in ast o hame shab sokhanam

Rozha fekre man in ast o hame shab sokhanam

Ke chera ghafel az ahvale dele khishtanam

Az koja amadeam amadan bahre che bod
Be koja miravam akhar nanemayi vatanam ?

Mandeam sakht ajab kaz che sabab sakht mara
Ya che bodast morade vey az in sakhtanam ?

Morgh bagh malakotam
Neyam az allam khak
Do se rozi ghafasi sakhteand az badanam

Ey khosh an roz ke parvaz konam ta dar dost
Be havaye sare khish par o bali bezanam .

English translation of the original Farsi poetry by Rumi:

Whoever Brought Me Here
All day I think about it, then at night I say it.
Where did I come from, and what am I supposed to be doing?
I have no idea.
My soul is from elsewhere, I'm sure of that,
and I intend to end up there.
This drunkenness began in some other tavern.
When I get back around to that place,
I'll be completely sober. Meanwhile,
I'm like a bird from another continent, sitting in this aviary.
The day is coming when I fly off,
but who is it now in my ear who hears my voice?
Who says words with my mouth?
Who looks out with my eyes? What is the soul?
I cannot stop asking.
If I could taste one sip of an answer,
I could break out of this prison for drunks.
I didn't come here of my own accord, and I can't leave that way.
Whoever brought me here, will have to take me home.
This poetry. I never know what I'm going to say.
I don't plan it.
When I'm outside the saying of it,
I get very quiet and rarely speak at all.
