Madan talks about Bulley Shah & Baba Farid

Of special interest to Punjabi lovers.

"Be-dardan sang kaisi yaari, rovan akhiyan zaro-zari"
Dr. Madan Gopal Singh recites poetry in Punjabi and follows with a wonderful explanation in Urdu.

Be-dardan sang kaisi yaari,
rovan akhiyan zaro-zari

Be-dardan da ki bharvasa,
khoof nahi dil-andar massa

chidiyan maut gavaran haasa,
magroun has-has tadi mari.

Sanu gaye be-dardi chhad ke,
hizre saang siney vich gad ke

jismo jind nu lai gaye kadh ke,
aeh gal kar gaye hensayaari.

Awan kah gaye pher na aaye,
aavan dey sab kaul bhulaye

mein bhullie, bhul nain lagaye,
kehey miley sanu thug vyapari.

Bulle Shah ik sauda kita,
pita jahar peyala pita,

na kutch nafa na tota leeta,
da-erad dukhan di gadhri bhari,

Be-dardan sang kaisi yaari,
rovan akhiyan zaro-zari.

Thank you for introducing me to Madan Gopal Singh, I watched both parts of this with great interest. Particularly apt today was my discovery of Holi Khelungi. http://youtu.be/SsDe-sx5z8w. Thank you for a wonderful blog.
