Preshan Ho Ke Meri Khaak Akhir Dil Na Ban Jaye - Iqbal

Preshan Ho Ke Meri Khaak Akhir Dil Na Ban Jaye
Jo Mushkil Ab Hai Ya Rab Phir Wohi Mushkil Na Ban Jaye

My scattered dust charged with Love the shape of heart may take at last:
O God, the grief that bowed me then may press me down as in the past!

Na Ker Dein Mujh ko Majboor-e-Nava Firdous Mein Hoorein
Mera Soz-e-Doron Phir Garmi-e-Mehfil Na Ban Jaye

The maids of Eden by their charm may arouse my urge for song
The flame of Love that burns in me may fire the zeal of Celestial Throng!

Kabhi Chhordi Huwi Manzil Bhi Yaad Ati Hai Raahi Ko
Khattak Si Hai, Jo Seenay Mein, Gham-e-Manzil Na Ban Jaye

The pilgrim’s mind can dwell at times on spots and stages left behind:
My heed for spots and places crossed, From the Quest may turn my mind!

Banaya Ishq Ne Darya’ay Na-Payda Karan Mujh Ko
Ye Meri Khud Nigahdari Mera Sahil Na Ban Jaye

By the mighty force of Love I am turned to Boundless Deep:
I fear that my self‐regard, Me, for aye, on shore may keep!

Kahin Iss Alam-e-Be-Rang-o-Bu Mein Bhi Talab Meri
Wohi Afsana-e-Dunbala-e-Mehmil Na Ban Jaye

My hectic search for aim and end, In life that smell and hue doth lack,
May get renown like lover’s tale, Who riding went on litter’s track!

Urooj-e-Adam-e-Khaki Se Anjum Sehme Jate Hain
Ke
Ye Toota Hua Tara Mah-e-Kamil Na Ban Jaye

The rise of clay‐born man hath smit the hosts of heaven with utter fright:
They dread that this fallen star to moon may wax with fuller light.

Khudi Ka Sare Nihan (The Secrets of the Self)

Poetry: M. Iqbal
Singers: Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan & Sanam Marvi

Khudi ka sirr-e-nihaan La ilaha il Allah
khudi hai tegh-e-fasaan La ilaha il Allah
The secret of the Self is hid, In words "No god but He alone".
The Self is just a dull-edged sword, "No god but He," the grinding stone.

Yeh daur apne 'Baraheem ki talaash mein hai
Sanam-kadah hai jahaan La ilaha il Allah
An Abraham by the age is sought To break the idols of this Hall:
The avowal of God's Oneness can Make all these idols headlong fall.

Yeh maal o dawlat-e-dunya, yeh ristha o paivand
butaan-e-vehm-o-gumaan! La ilaha il Allah
Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan

The worldly wealth and riches too, Ties of blood and friends a dream
The idols wrought by doubts untrue, All save God's Oneness empty seem.

Kiya hai tu ne mataa-e-gharoor ka sauda
fareb-e-sood-o-ziyaan ! La ilaha il Allah
A bargain you have struck for goods Of life, a step, that smacks conceit,
All save the Call "No god but He" Is merely fraught with fraud and deceit.

Sanam Marvi

Agar-che but hain jama'at ki aasteenon mein
mujhe hai hukm-e-azaan, La ilaha il Allah
Many idols are still concealed' In their sleeves by the Faithful Fold,
I am ordained by Mighty God To raise the call and be much bold.

Yeh naghma fasl-e-gul o laalah ka nahin paaband
bahaar ho ke khizaan, La ilaha il Allah
These melodious songs are not confined To Time when rose and tulip bloom
Whatever the season of year be "No god but He" must ring till doom.

Sighra Aawen Sanwal Yaar - Kalam: Sachal Sarmast

Sighṛa aawen sanwal yaar = come swiftly, dark, handsome love!

alaf ala chambe di booti murshid man wich laai hu
alif, the first letter of God’s name, is a jasmine flower that the Guide has planted in my heart – He!

nafi asbaat da paani milyo har rage har jaai hu
watered with negation and affirmation (no God, but God) was each vein and each pore – He!

andar booti mushk machaai jaan phulaan te aai hu
inside, the plant stirred a musky tumult of fragrance when the flowers of gnosis blossomed – He!

jeewe murshad kaamil baahu jain eh booti laai
long live my Consummate Guide, O “Bahu”, who planted this chaste flower

sighra aaween saanwal yaar
come swiftly, dark, handsome love!

roandi watadiyyaan zaar o zaar
I wander weeping wretchedly

sighra aaween saanwal yaar
come swiftly, dark, handsome love!

raat diyaan wich saang sajan de, rahn hamesha sard raat
the nights and days of separation from my lover always remain bitterly cold

jo ik waari mar ke jeewe, fer unaan ki marna hu
he who, after death, once more lives, what fear has he of death then – He!

duniya uto jis din bhaawen, us din parda karna hu
from the world, the day he chooses his mortal frame he can quit – He!

raahaan teriyaan roz golaindiyaan
each day, I scour the roads you travelled

man tu aaween kainhn wal yaar
oh, would to God you come back, love!

sighra aaween saanwal yaar
come swiftly, dark, handsome love!

at your door, from the day that I did bow my forehead in the True Court – He!

us deenh da sir fida uthaaeen, bya darbaar nah leeta hu
from that day, my head (life) is devoted to that Court; no other court have I since sought – He!

sar dewan aakhan naaheen, shaad piyaala peeta – hu
they’d give up their heads than give up His Secret, who have drunk from the Cup of Gladness – He!

main qurbaan tinhaan ton baahu, jinhaan ishq salaamat keeta hu
I am sacrificed for those ones, O “Bahu”, who have (like Husain) safeguarded Pure Love – He!

يہے
dar tede te sachchu jehe
at your door, like the lowly “Sachchu”

aashiq lakh hazaar o yaar
(must be) countless ardent lovers, love!

sighra aaween saanwal yaar

come swiftly, dark, handsome love!

Sachal Sarmast (1739–1829) (Sindhi: سچلُ سرمستُ, Urdu: سچل سرمست)

While I love her voice, the style of singing and the music, I find the use of sound movement from the right to left a bit excesssive. This only becomes very obvious if you hear it on headphones.
