Lailat al Mairaj - Sare Lamakan se Talab Hui - Sabri Brothers

Aye khatm e rusul, Kaba e maqsood tui
Dar surat e har che hast maujood tui
Aayat e kamal e haq ayaan nast-bato
Azaat ke darparda neha bood tui

Suhani raat thi, aur pursukoon zamana tha
Asar mein dooba huwa jazb e ashiqana tha
Unhein to arsh pey mehboob ko bulana tha
Hawas thi deed ki meraj ka bahana tha

Sare Lamakan se talab huwi sue munthaha woh chaley nabi
Yeh kamal e husn ka maujiza ke firaq o haq bhi na seh saka
Shab e meraj liya arsh bareen per bulway
Sadma e hijr Khuda se bhi gavara a huwa

Yeh kamal e husn ka mojza, Ke firaaq o haq bhi na seh saka.
Sare Lamakan se talab huwi sue munthaha woh chaley nabi
Shab e Mairaj liya arsh e bareen per bulwaye
Sadma e hijr Khuda say bhi gawara na huwa.

Tori Har Har Ada ko Mein Jaan Gayi - Haji Mehboob Qawwal

Over the years I have had the pleasure of listening to some of Haji Mehboob saheb's recitals and each time that I go back to them there is a twinge and ache for not having sat in front of him and heard him live. What a terrible loss that for ten years I lived only a few miles away in Rawalpindi and knew nothing about him then.

Yet thanks to the kind souls who took the trouble to record him and share his lovely sweet music with us. Each one is a gem to keep and to return to every so often. Enjoy!

The recent delightful visit of Umair Jaffar from Islamabad led to some sharing of images and music and strengthened the belief that Dargahs in Pakistan hold many treasures for those in search of culture, music and good old fashioned poetry.
